Final major race meeting at Goodwood

The Goodwood Motor Circuit held its final major race meeting. Rising speeds, increasingly powerful cars and the circuit's lack of modern safety features made top-level racing unsustainable. The last race was won by Jackie Stewart, who would go on to become the sport's most vocal advocate for improved safety. The circuit fell silent for three decades.
