Goodwood Racecourse
A hilltop racecourse with world-class flat racing and the finest views of any racecourse in Britain
Goodwood Racecourse sits on the top of the South Downs, approximately 700 feet above sea level, offering panoramic views across the coastal plain to the English Channel and the Isle of Wight. The racecourse has hosted flat racing since 1802 and is home to the Qatar Goodwood Festival, commonly known as Glorious Goodwood, one of the premier meetings of the British flat racing season. The right-handed circuit is approximately one mile and six furlongs in circumference, with a straight six-furlong course for sprint races. The undulating layout and the effect of the prevailing wind make Goodwood one of the most tactically challenging courses in the country. The racecourse facilities include grandstands, the Richmond Enclosure, the Gordon Enclosure, hospitality suites and extensive catering operations.
